I was on full Daddy duty this weekend. As soon as Nick got out of school Friday afternoon, he and I jumped in the car and drove nine hours from Gulfport, MS, to Clermont, FL, for Jude’s birthday. I was slightly worried about having to deal with a cranky five-year old in the car [...] When my first son, Jude (I don’t say oldest son because Nick is actually older), was born, his mom and I had already realized things wouldn’t work out between us. I never disputed paternity – all you have to do is look at the kid to know he’s mine – or my responsibilities, so [...] One of the hardest things about moving from Florida to Mississippi was leaving Jude, who was really the only reason I didn’t just move here when Rhonda and I met in the first place. On our last weekend in Florida, three months ago, Jude didn’t really grasp that I wouldn’t be picking him up [...] There have been a lot of changes since the last time I posted here. I’m sorry about that, by the way. The longer I go without writing, the harder it is for me to actually start writing.
