I have no idea what this image has to do with this post. (Image by dvanzuijlekom via Flickr) We had our meeting with Nick‘s teacher yesterday, and it went better than I hoped. She seemed to have asked for the meeting to reassure us and not complain about any bad behavior. The [...] Nick‘s school and ADHD saga continues. We’ve taken a relaxed approach, acknowledging that not being able to shut up or sit still sometimes or just zoning out and not always hearing adults when they’re telling him what to do is just part of Nick’s personality. In general, we don’t punish him for those things [...] As I’ve mentioned, Nick started kindergarten this year. He seems to like school, but he’s had some behavior problems. Nothing overly serious, mostly the same minor issues he’s had for as long as I’ve known him, only… more so. His teacher doesn’t seem too worried and has written most things off as him needing [...] I was on full Daddy duty this weekend. As soon as Nick got out of school Friday afternoon, he and I jumped in the car and drove nine hours from Gulfport, MS, to Clermont, FL, for Jude’s birthday. I was slightly worried about having to deal with a cranky five-year old in the car [...]  Because we just can’t seem to find a babysitter that we can rely on (T excluded, she had a VERY good reason), the boys are staying with their grandpa this week. I just came home from dropping them off, and I already miss them. This house is just not the same without feet pounding [...] One of the hardest things about moving from Florida to Mississippi was leaving Jude, who was really the only reason I didn’t just move here when Rhonda and I met in the first place. On our last weekend in Florida, three months ago, Jude didn’t really grasp that I wouldn’t be picking him up [...] Rhonda went back to work today, so I had my first full day alone with Harper and Nick. The good news is that nobody died or was injured. If I hadn’t already been staying home with Nick before Harper came, I think today would have been alot harder. As it is, though… we still [...] Baby brothers can be a headache. Rhonda and I have had some trouble with Nick. Since Harper has come home, Nick seems more argumentative, prone to tantrums and screaming fits, and “potty accidents”, all of which we thought we left behind. Anyone who has read about “toddler regression” will probably recognize the classic [...]  |
